Our Top 9 Moments of 2019

Who Will You Be In 10 Years?

And just like that….a new decade is upon us! Here at Perpetual, December has proven to be equal parts reflection and anticipation. We’ve been taking the time to celebrate wins (see the post below!), assess opportunities, and refocus on what lies ahead.
Celebrate.
With goals come adversity. If we aren’t actively acknowledging our own efforts and accomplishments we’ll get frustrated, burnt out, and sidetracked….celebrate yo’ self!
Assess.
Equal parts humility and confidence. Be humble enough to accept that there’s always areas to improve, yet confident enough to know we’re perfectly imperfect. Don’t regret, let go and GROW.
Refocus.
This is THE JUICE. Time to get so excited about to achieve next that we can’t fall asleep at night. I’m NOT talking New Year’s Resolutions….I’m talking about a decision that will shift your identity.

Who do you want to become?
What gifts have you been hiding that the World is dying to see?
What could happen in the next 10 years that would knock your socks off?!

If there’s anything we can do to help you crush this next decade, please let us know! That’s what we’re here for.

Below is our Top 9 Moments of 2019! Soon we’ll be releasing info about our new 12 week strength + fitness program, a Mindfulness Workshop, upcoming promotions, and more!
Until then….Happy New Year!

9. Sunday Fitness

Our Perpetual Barbell class with Headmaster Nick C. was already a hit on Sunday mornings, but no one expected the craze for our coveted Perpetual Oxygen class on Sunday’s @ 11:30AM. Led by the one and only Melissa ‘Messy Fit’ Messam, this class gets the heart rate up, tones the prime muscle groups, and torches calories. It’s a hiit.

8. 2019 Jingle Bell Run

The Arthritis Foundation’s Cleveland Jingle Bell Run is our thing. Each year we have some amazing people show up and show their support for those battling with Arthritis by running or walking a 5k in less-than-optimal temps. This year we were #1 in NE Ohio for funds raised. Our friends Courtney Durbin and her team over at the AF put on an excellent each year. Great job by all!

7. Athlete Appreciation Party

Our 4th Annual Athlete Appreciation Party makes the list for several reasons, but at the top is the epic spread that we feasted upon. Perpetual is blessed to have athletes from over 10 different countries and ethnicities, whom not only insist on bringing their native delicacies, but happen to be exceptional in the kitchen! It was a (delicious) blast.

6. This Testimonial Compilation

Our summer intern surprised us with a compilation of some of the testimonials he found in our archives. He absolutely crushed it (shout to Jacob!) and we were super grateful for it, and for all of our incredible members here and for their love and support! Check it out here.

5. Triple Threat + The Duct Tape Season

Seemingly out of nowhere, a seriously cool workout named Triple Threat (a nod to the talented singer/actress/dancer Jay Lo) spawned a several month long span of floor-plan designs….all created with duct tape. Lightning bolts, cubes, birthday cakes, and many more! Check us out on the gram to see some of the innovation we tapped into. The real question is….will the Duct Tape Papi make a return visit in 2020?!?!? Only time will tell!

4. 2019 Murph Challenge

Murph was a blast this year! Same workout, same purpose, new faces! We had over 50 people attend (peep the highlights here).  This makes the list because it’s a staple in the CrossFit community, and the best way a fitness-enthusiast could possibly pay homage to those that serve(d) on Memorial Day. For those of you that need a reminder, the workout consists of the following:
“MURPH”
For time:
1 mile Run
100 Pull-ups
200 Push-ups
300 Squats
1 mile Run
In memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, 29, of Patchogue, N.Y., who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005.

3. 2019 Perpetual Fitness Christmas Party

There was something about this year’s Christmas Party that’s hard to describe….it was an amazing night! Everyone looked incredible, the energy was on point, laughter was in the air, wine was flowing….all the stars aligned. We did a White Elephant REGIFT Exchange which was pretty hilarious! Our friends over @ Michael Angelo’s Winery also always do an incredible job hosting us. Great time!

2. The Giving Tree

This was a moment many of us will not soon forget. Coach Val had the idea to give back in a big way this year, and our community stepped up to the plate…and knocked it out of the park.

Long story short we “adopted” a local family in need and did their Christmas shopping for them. Dad, Mom, 4 kids, and a disabled adult they care for.

There were a total of 86 items the family had on their Christmas Lists. Val made each gift into a “tag” and hung in on a Christmas tree in our lobby. Our members (and some of their family members and co-workers) fulfilled 76 of them. We’re talking thousands of dollars in gifts for this family.

“We presented the idea to our members and the response was absolutely overwhelming,” said Val. Adding, “To see our community come together was so powerful. I’m blown away by their eagerness to help those less fortunate.”

1. 6TH ANNUAL CINDY FOR CINDY

Brought to you by Crystal Clinic

The 6th annual Cindy for Cindy was a banger and sits at the top of 2019 Greatest Hits post simply because of the impact we were able to create. Make no mistake about it, our community stepped up to the plate and connected BIG TIME. Our ‘sponsored athletes’ raised over $8,000.00 alone…we’re talking two, 20-minute heats of fitness…that’s a return even Warren Buffet would envy.

Aside from it being our best year in terms of dollars raised, we also were able to increase awareness for arthritis overall through various touch-points and campaigns–which has a rippling effect. We ended up in first place at the 2019 Cleveland Jingle Bell Run, and had an awesome turnout at the event. Very cool!

Onward.

Well there you have it! Our 9 best moments of 2019. As much fun as it is to look back and feel grateful for the amazing moments, we can’t begin to stress how excited we are for 2020. We’ve learned a lot this year and will use the knowledge and wisdom to take even greater strides in the coming months. Thanks for being with us on the journey!

In Fitness and Gratitude,

Dan
